This is a wonderful Desktop Environment. I'm only having a couple of issues on my Arch Linux install (which is why I created the forums account in the first place) but I hope to get them fixed soon and enjoy. It's got a surprising amount of customization built in for such a light desktop. It's efficient and straightforward.

Hi,
I don't have much to say. I'm using Xubuntu LTS minimal and Debian 7 + Xfce 4.10. I used to be a distrohopper so I have tried distros such as Archlinux (it is a really cool distro, with pacman, AUR and now systemd), LMDE, Mageia, Fedora, Manjaro, PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu and some others I don't remember right now.
About me. I like the computers and the technology, math and physics. I listen to a lot of type of music. I enjoy seeing anime and reading manga too.
I'm really happy here in Xfce because of its lightness and responsibility. So... Hello World!

Hi,

I'm a debian stable + xfce user and thought it's about time I thanked the devs for the excellent interface.
It's simplicity, speed and robustness are everything I would want in an interface, I hope development continues as cautiously as it has in the past.

fingers crossed the debian devs realise the suitability of xfce and it's the default interface in debian 8.0, rewarding xfce's brilliant work and granting the user a much more familiar form than the phone/tablet interfaces that seem to have become so popular.

many thanks,

Ryan
sheffield,UK

Hi everyone. I've been around xfce (and the mailing lists) for a while, only just stumbled across the forum.

I've been building and running Xfce on Solaris for a while, and it's now a pretty clean build there. And I've contributed to some of the panel plugins and the task manager to get them supported on Solaris as well.

More recently, Tribblix is an Illumos (OpenSolaris descendant) distro I'm creating that has Xfce as a primary desktop. I would say *the* primary, but I quite like E17 as well. They both meet my need for a simple, lightweight, yet modern and fully functional desktop interface; I'm very retro and don't get on well with the more heavyweight desktop environments.

-Peter

--> XUBUNTU <--

PENGERTIAN

Cody A.W.
Pada bulan November 2009, Cody A.W.

ISTORY

Xubuntu 6.06 LTS = dirilis tanggal 1 Juni 2006
Xubuntu 6.10 = dirilis tanggal 26 Oktober 2006
Xubuntu 7.04 = dirilis tanggal 19 April 2007
Xubuntu 7.10 = dirilis tanggal 18 Oktober 2007
Xubuntu 8.04 LTS = dirilis tanggal 24 April 2008
Xubuntu 8.10 = dirilis tanggal 30 Oktober 2008
Xubuntu 9.04 = dirilis tanggal 23 April 2009
Xubuntu 9.10 = dirilis tanggal 29 Oktober 2009
Xubuntu 10.04 LTS = dirilis tanggal 29 April 2010
Xubuntu 10.10 = dirilis tanggal 10 Oktober 2010
Xubuntu 11.04 = dirilis tanggal 28 April 2011
Xubuntu 11.10 = dirilis tanggal 13 Oktober 2011
Xubuntu 12.04 LTS = dirilis bulan April tahun 2012
Xubuntu 12.10 = dirilis tanggal 18 Oktober 2012
Xubuntu 13.04 = dirilis tanggal 25 April 2013

KELEBIHAN

>Lebih ringan daripada Linux yang lainnya, karena membutuhkan ruang lingkup RAM yang rendah
>lebih bagus lagi pakai 12.04 LTS sampai support 5 tahunnya abis, karena akan sangat stabil systemnya, jadi dapat selalu di update dalam waktu yang sangat lama.

KELEBIHAN

ketidakmampuannya dalam menjalankan aplikasi-aplikasi berbasis 3D semisal game 3D dan semacamnya.

Hi, I use the same one Xubuntu 12.04 LTS on a multiboot system switched by Grub legacy in PCLinuxOS, which had 'redo MBR' with the simply editable old menu.list very nice as long as the MBR is the thing to work with.
Xubuntu (with some modifications) is a perfect day-to-day system after some bugs in the beginning of it's life.

I can work with it but don't like very much: Unity, Gnome 3 or (the best of them) Cinnamon. KDE is rather usable now, but it has given a lot of bug-pain for years after KDE 3.5.

Xfce is fast, clean and sufficient for what I want here. Maybe a matter of taste.

I live in the Netherlands.

Howdy from former NYer now in FL!

Hi I'm Steve I. Just a little intro & background to say hello-
I've been using computers on & off since DOS 2.0 on an 8088 box in 1988, and through all the variants of Windows from 3.1 through XP sp3 (though I am no guru or programmer by a long shot). Gave up Windoze like a bad habit when my XP crashed & burned (for good) in 2008, ironically while downloading my first copy of Linux! Started with Ubuntu 8.04 (which ran fine on my P4) until bloat weighed down the newer releases. I use more modern hardware for daily workhorse use, but stuck with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to avoid the Unity debacle. When support ended in April of this year I switched to Mint 13/Mate because I prefer the traditional (Gnome 2.x-like) desktop environments.
I learned the hard way not to depend on a laptop as one's main hardware. (Have had three die in the last four years, but have never had a desktop box go belly-up;- I assume it's heat-related issues). Needing to have backup hardware to avoid downtime if my current laptop dies, I set up an Asus Aspire One netbook with Puppy Linux 528 and XFCE, since Ubuntu 10.4 was running like a snail on it a (as well as no longer being supported).
***The performance is unbelievable*** I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the small size of Puppy and the OS running totally in RAM, but due to the low specs of the machine I wanted the lightest desktop environemnt that was still familiar/comfortable and did not have too steep a learning curve. Xfce hit the proverbial nail on the head. I tried running just the Openbox window manager, but it was a little too "bare bones" for me (though it *is* very powerful in terms of what can be done).
I like having panels with my oft-used programs/applications/settings/launchers available just a mouse-click away, as well as constantly-visible system monitoring. (Having the CPU temperature monitor on my main work laptop saved it from a meltdown recently when the vent holes got clogged with dust and the temp was up to 92 degrees C!). Also, knowing what the CPU, hard drive and network are doing lets me know if something is just taking its time or if there is a problem.
****Xfce was easy to set up, intuitive enough that I did not have to spend much time Googling for help, and customizable enough that I feel right at home on it the first day. I have no need for eye candy (transparency, cubes, etc.), but Xfce still manages to look very nice & polished.****
I can't wait to set up the indestructable old P4 box (2.4 MHz, 2 GB RAM) with Xfce on Mint and see how it does performance-wise.
Props to all the developers for a job well done! Long live Xfce...
--Steve I.
