Many thanks for the good news. Installed now the latest version and got a little bit further. I assume, I run firstly into some missing libraries.

Yes I have done a successful installation of XFCE 4.4 RC1 four days back only.

I am using OpenSuse 10.1 on Acer Aspire 3003 NWLMI Laptop with almost everything installed from the OpenSuse 10.1 DVD. Initially I faced a problem only when installing xfce-print-manager. But when I installed cups-devel package, the graphical installer could succesfully install it.
I did not do anything special except this.

I am using it as I am writing this reply.

I do run into several problems, installing Xfce on Suse:

I have used latest versions on Xfce-Home (Download), I tried each item separately (rpm) and the complete set as
well. It stops after "No end of File" ====> mentioned already on this forum

Graphical Wizard stopped after "Installation prefix" saying Icons no match found etc. (Have tried xfce4-4.2.3.2-installer as well as 4.2.1.1. Neither worked.

Has anybody experience with installing Xfce on a Suse 10.1 system ?
