You have to enable the "Display fullscreen overlay windows directly" checkbox in the window manager options (xfce-setting-show wmtweaks). Hope this helps

I get a weird effect with the compositor enabled and background window transparency set. When I take from hibernation, the screen saver is usually transparent. Does anybody else get this?
