Maybe some channel is muted. Check it with alsamixer. You can unmute a channel with the m button.
You can also open alsamixer in a terminal and start Banshee to see what changes.

Hi, everybody.
Can't hear any sound notifications in Kopete (.ogg, .wav). Have the same problem with GAIM, but it solves when I turn on Banshee Music Player.
Can anybody just point to the root of the problem?
