however, if i run program (Alt + F2) xterm or gnome-terminal, the corresponding terminal open fine.

I have just complied XFCE 4.4.0 on to Mandriva 2007

All working OK apart from when i Press the button to open a terminal the X windows resets and i have to login again

If i change the command line to Xterm it all work ok

I have tried opening a xterm and running ./xfterm4 and the same thing happens
