I tried 11.4 Xubuntu on my old laptop and it made me want to run xfce on my desktop. I like the way things are running on my desktop with 10.4 so I will stick with it for the time being. I have already thought about switching distros when the time comes, I just don't have the time to do a fresh/clean install. I want to get rid of my WinXP dual boot and start fresh If I could get 4.8 working I would do it, but from what I have read on the Ubuntu forums people have had problems.

SoFL W -> A released version of Ubuntu doesn't get newer versions of packages other than in very rare cases. The only thing it gets is security fixes. So, if 10.04 was released with xfce 4.6, (which was the newest on the release of 10.04) that is what it will have.

If you want a newer version, PPA's are the way to go.
(I don't use Ubuntu myself, so I don't know where to find a good PPA though)...

Hi, this is probably a noob question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I have Ubuntu 11.04 (technically, iQunix 11.04) installed, and it's running Gnome 2. I want to try getting XFCE on it, but I can't seem to find the package in the Software Center.

Am I missing a PPA that I need to include? Everything I've read seems to suggest that I should have xubuntu-desktop available to install with no hassles.
