Okay, Jim. There does seem to be some differences. I'm using the latest XFCE on Xubuntu 11.10. The only other suggestion I have is to make sure you've enabled compositing in window manager tweaks in xf window manager. That allows panel transparency for me. Sounds like you have it enabled, though.

Thanks for your swift reply! Our systems might be different. The only things that shows up on my Panel pop-up box is Appearance = Size, Position Fixed/Moveable, Full width/normal width, Autohide.

Have you tried setting the appearance style to "solid color"? Lowering the alpha to 0 with solid checked works for me. My panels are transparent.

Hi,
I've compiled xfce4-panel and I can't get transparency. I can make my windows transparent. I've seen somewhere that you need to enable it with a compile option. Is this correct? If so what is it?
