Mageia, esthetically looks cool Anyway, i'd stick with Debian for the powerpc support. Where could i find the rpm package? With alien i could try to "translate" it to deb and see what happens trying to install.

Hello,
I have a distribution Mageia.
And I use their rpm packages.
With Mageia version 1, it works well.

There were some difficulties during the transition to systemd, with the development version (cauldron)
But now it's operational.

Thanks for your reply: Sorry for being so dumb, so, i should install libgtk+2.0-dev ? I checked with synaptic and indeed it's not installed. Trying to do that, i'm getting this error msg:

 Hängt ab von: libxcomposite-dev aber es wird nicht installiert

(essentially Depends on: libpango1.0-dev but it won't be installed ecc. ecc)

So, what could be done there. Playing a bit with the display managers, and turning back to gdm (from gdm3 i had before, don't know why, may be by the Gnome installation) had a positive side effect, that the keycaps recognition of my PB keyboard now is absolutely correct

Since i realize it's you who wrote so positively about lxdm, may i ask you where i could find an good instruction how to install it (there's no deb package for squeeze) (?)

En fait, je pense que c'est lib(64)gtk+2.0-devel qui fournit la dépendance

I wanted to try out the lxdm display manager (so emphesized in the wiki page) But i've a problem with the installation. While doing

./configure

i'm getting this error msg:

checking for GDK... no
configure: error: Package requirements (gdk-2.0) were not met:

No package 'gdk-2.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GDK_CFLAGS
and GDK_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Now, i tried to find the package 'gdk-2.0' but it doesn't seem to exist????
