We've got xfce4-4.10 packaged and in the testing repository of Vectorlinux. For us at Vectorlinux our Xfce version has always been our most loved and popular version of the OS. Looks great, and awesome job guys.

FWIW, you can have a look at a video of our own testing of the xfce4-4.10 in this video link below. Xfce4-4.10 itself so far is solid, you will see in the video the kinks we are ironing out have to do with our own packaging.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MibSAzfFiUo

@devs

ditto prairie_dad. I'm converting all machines to this now. 4.10 now 'looks' like a very polished product and seems to be meta stable. On old P4s the interface positively flies and makes these cheap old boxes very useable.

Serious thanks and congrats to all those involved.

T

Well done! I'm somewhere in my fourth or fifth year with Xfce, and so glad. Running on Arch now, mostly, but also some on Fedora, Salix (though not 4.10) and there've been others in the past. For my money, the best DE out there...and I've tried 'em all...Gnomes, KDEs, LXDE, MATE, Cinnamon, fluxbox, openbox...Xfce retains the best balance between features on the one hand and modest memory consumption on the other. Bravo and thanks,

dave

xf∞ wrote:

thanks! I see very useful improvements!
But my xfce4-settings-manager come without icons and menu items. Here is screenshot: http://storage2.static.itmages.ru/i/12/0429/s_1335723262_9622203_263493224a.png

my system is xubuntu 11.10.

I had the same problem with xubuntu 12.04. The solution is to build exo with a different prefix (I choose /usr/local), "editing /etc/ld.so.conf.d/i686-linux-gnu.conf" (for 32 bit system) and pre-pending "/usr/local/lib" at the top of the list. This will ensure that those libraries are used first and not the default ones installed with xubuntu. Then run:

sudo ldconfig

...and it should work.
