I saw some previous discussion of the issue here:

It seemed like maybe this would become an option. Did this happen? For me, greying out the icons doesn't work well, because I often use "show desktop" to minimize everything, and it doesn't mean I'm not working with those windows anymore. And they're a little harder to quickly spot when greyed out.
