However I have noticed that if I use the settings manager to change the
appears/style - then the tool tips are good.  Unfortunately if I then restart
digikam the tool tips revert to the bad state.

Any suggestions?

Alternatively -- is there a way to set the style/appearence from the command
line? If that were possible then a simple work around would be to always set the
style after starting digikam.
