I went ahead and installed from the ppa I referenced in the first post. While in a Unity 3D session, I did the installation using the Ubuntu Software Manager. I was informed it would be a "partial" upgrade and that a dist-upgrade would be done. I went ahead.
Logged out and into Xfce. All seems okay so far.

Hi! My first post.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04
Computer: Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop (4 GB RAM)

I can run Ubuntu in Unity 3D without any discomfort but I heard so much about the lightness of Xfce. So I installed xfce4 and xfce4-goodies from the Ubuntu Software Center and I've been choosing Xfce session at login. Now that a 4.10 ppa is available from Launchpad (https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/xfce-4.10), I intend installing it. My question is this: will there be a problem because I already have 4.8 installed from the USC? Do I first have to uninstall 4.8 (after logging into Unity 2D or 3D)? Or, can I install the ppa while in the Xfce 4.8 session? (I'm a relative newbie to Linux.)
