After you select the program you want, click on "preferences" and click "save".

I gather that is unique to Xubuntu so you might be more likely to get an answer on their forums. Of course there are other Xubuntu users here so you might be lucky.

In the Settings for Xubuntu 12.10 there is a section called "Main Menu". This section is used to set what programs and settings you want to show up in the Main Menu. I can't seem to get any changes I make to stick. When I check a box to select a program or setting the check mark un checks it's self and I can't make any changes. As a result the Main Menu is in default configuration but I would like to make some changes. Why is this happening?
