Well, this is fun :-p

I tried again and it worked. The first time I had first inserted the pendrive and it worked as usual, then I configured 'Removable Drives and Media' to open audio player when inserting CD and it only opened the player in my test as the CD wasn't mounted.
Then I logged out and back into Xfce (I was in IceWM and logged into Xfce but I don't think it should make any difference except for underlying delays due to system load), inserted the CD and the player opened with the tracks loaded.

So it definitely has some timing issue.

- edit: I give up ;-) It seems mounting itself doesn't have anything to do with my issue as the CD isn't mounted when being played right now.

For me it never worked in Xfce 4.8. Then after update to Xfce 4.10 it started working, sort of (e.g. if device had two partitions sometimes it would auto-mount only one). Now it just works very well, so much so that I even add 'Thunar --daemon' to my IceWM session so I have the benefits of thunar-volman too.

So maybe depending on the hardware, system load or maybe more probably the back-end results may vary.

Did nobody experience this problem really?

Some update:
I unsay it works with usb drives: the truth is volman automounts nothing. It appears in thunar's sidebar, but all of the inserted medias are unmounted by default. I have to mount them manually: it's quite irritating (for example if I insert and want to listen an audio CD; the default audio player could not play it).
I've reinstalled the system, Thunar is 1.6.0 - no change.
Automounting works perfectly in 12.04 Precise.

Hi Guys,

my problem is Thunar (or Thunar-volman) automounts perfectly USB drives, but does not do it with CDs/DVDs.

Xubuntu 12.10, Xfce 4.10
Kernel 3.5.0-19-generic 64bit
Thunar 1.5.3

It's a freshly installed system with the latest updates, I do not use any kind of 'special' but only the core applications.

I've checked:
- Settings > Removable drives and Media > on Storage tab the first 3 options are checked.
- Settings > Settings Editor > thunar volman > automount drives, media and autobrowse are enabled. (Theoretically these are the same as above.)
- Reinstalled Thunar-volman: no change.

Any suggestion or idea?
Thank You in advance:
Imre
