I also dont like very much how things are going with unity and GNOME 3, but i imagine someday i could get used to use the new gnome.
but there is this nice XFCE environment, so i have no reason to change.

I run Xubuntu as sole OS on my 8 years old Sony Viao (1,6 Ghz single core and 2 GB Ram) and love it.
Hope also Xubuntu users are welcome here. I am 61 years of age and live in Germany. Started on Linux in 2008 with Ubuntu 8.04. Do not like where Unity and Gnome 3 are going but luckily I found Xfce.
