slackware 14.0

This just started happening when i started running in init level4 (Multi-user mode with display manager), it is currently using kdm for the manager.

whenever i resize the terminal application   (/usr/bin/terminal) i get this weird behavior,

and the artifacts remain until move an active window over it and the mouse over the lower tool bar

any ideas
