Xfwm4- Settings?: Issue with enabling wrap_windows with Xubuntu as VM

Hello,

First post here.

I've got Ubuntu Studio 15.10 running as a host with Xfce 4.12.1 and Xubuntu 15.10 running in Virtualbox 5 with Xfce 4.12.1 but I'm not able to move windows between workspaces on the VM, host works fine.

When I run:

xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/wrap_windows -s false (true)

on the host I'm able to toggle the behaviour off then on. What I run it on the VM still no movement between workspaces but the value for /general/wrap_windows does change.

When listed the 2 configurations match for all intensive purposes (Booleans match / Font, buttons, pixels differ slightly). What could be over riding this config?

Thanks.

Oh, I'd include a copy of the VM config but don't know how you guys get the nice live text window with scroll bar see I'm also a 1 week old Linux user smile

That's a pretty standard web-forum feature. Use CODE tags for that - just like you'd use B for bold, U for underline, and I for italic:

[CO DE]Monospace font, dead links, retained spacing[/CO DE] - You must remove the spaces that I added (to prohibit the CODE tag from becoming active), of course, and the tags need not be in upper-case. Anyway, that becomes:

Monospace font, dead links, retained spacing

when the spaces aren't added. Code tags are handy for posting any terminal output that you get (for example, if you have an issue and someone tells you to perform a command to get system information and post it here), for posting a link to another web page that you do not wish to be live for whatever reason (some folks want to see the actual http: link so they know right away on which website it is, or you might want to make it so they cannot easily go directly to that web page (which gives that website information about where - which website - the visitor came from, et cetera), or if you are trying to display information in a simple chart form and want your rows/columns to line up. There are probably other uses. Err... If you have a fetish for 1980s-era ASCII art, lol, and felt driven to post it here, that would be the way to ensure that your creation stays untainted by variable/proportional font wink .

BtW, whenever someone posts a message, and you do not understand how they achieved the effect that they did, you can always use the Quote message function to see how they did (just cancel the message / close the tab / go back to the previous page afterwards).

Regards,
MDM

Re: Xfwm4- Settings?: Issue with enabling wrap_windows with Xubuntu as VM

Thanks and I did read that thread but where this differs is here I can't drag VM windows within the VM to other VM workspaces. In the reference solution they were unable to move the VM to other workspace on the host. I didn't realize it until I read the last post where he succeeded.

Re: Xfwm4- Settings?: Issue with enabling wrap_windows with Xubuntu as VM

You are correct. I mis-read the post.
I Just fired up my Virtualbox guest and see the same limitation. Its like the desktop edge is not being properly identified. You could create a bug report for this in xfwm4 to see what the developer has to say.

Would using keyboard shortcuts (Settings Manager >> Window Manager >> Keyboard) suffice for moving windows to different workspaces? I believe the defaults are Ctrl+Alt+End to move the currently active window to the next workspace or Ctrl+Alt+Home to move it to the previous workspace.
