Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

I am just curious as to Why the programmers haven't included an ADD button to the desktop settings
window to be able to add your own wallpaper. I see that they are kept in the XFCE folder, but I am
setting up new people on the LinuxLite OS who will not want to be searching for this folder.

Please add a button in the desktop settings window.

Thanks

Re: Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

There is actually a way to select custom folder with pictures:

When you open the desktop settings under the list with pictures, you will see an option to select a folder. From the drop-down menu select "Other" and choose your wallpaper folder. The list should now show all pictures in it.

You can even add a custom action in Thunar which can set the selected image as desktop background when you right click on it:

Re: Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

choose your wallpaper folder

Many of our users try to select the wallpaper instead, and end up confused. I want to suggest to the devs one of these days that they change "Other..." on that list to "Other folder..." which would eliminate the problem with minimal effort.

Re: Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

I tried using the "OTHER" selection and it grays out all png and jpg files... meaning, they can not be selected. So, how do I select a pic file to use?

Here's another example going into another folder:
You can see the folders are boldly visible, but the files within each folder are all grayed out.

Re: Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

Please read more carefully the opening posts: you select the folder to be displayed first, then the contents become visible to be selected for the wallpaper.

Thanks for a perfect example of the confusion caused by the current setup!

Re: Adding a Personal Wallpaper?

Thanks, but I also went to my external HDD (New Volume) within that list and once I selected that, it only displayed a few pics and showed no other folders to choose from. But since OTHER is listed, why wouldn't I be able to USE it?
