As per your other thread, a few options were offered - including a couple of solutions that would sit on the panel. Have you tried them?

Or perhaps you could write an RSS reader as a contribution to the community? Or petition someone (pay for) to write one for you?

Demanding volunteers to develop solutions to meet your needs rarely goes anywhere.

Just in case the OP's not trolling, perhaps they didn't notice that sixsixfive's terse recommendation (Liferea), works great and provides a useful panel indicator.
