xfce-terminal: odd behavior with zoom

i noticed the zoom capability in right-click and tried zooming in and zooming out.  for some userids it keeps the same geometry.  for others it changes the geometry to match the display.  right now, different users have different terminal settings.  s that's probably the reason.  but still, why does it even need to have this?

given the geometry confusion, and the re-sizable fonts, it would be nice to be able to set the pixel geometry and cell geometry directly and have it stretch or shrink the fonts as needed to fit.  for zoom, a resizeable magnifier would be nice.  when sized smaller than the window, it can be moved around to display different areas larger.  zooming out really makes no sense ... just enlarge the cell geometry.
