i have xfce installed on a ubuntu-eee distribution running on my 4G eee701. i have been able to run xfce before, but haven't rebooted in a few days, so i think something i've done in that time has caused a problem.
my .xsession-errors contains the following when i try to start an xfce session:
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... Setting IM through im-switch for locale=en_US. Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default. /usr/bin/startxfce4: X server already running on display :0 xrdb: "Xft.hinting" on line 9 overrides entry on line 6 xrdb: "Xft.hintstyle" on line 10 overrides entry on line 7 Agent pid 8591 ** Message: Querying XINPUT extension ** Message: XINPUT extension found ** Message: Querying Xkb extension ** Message: Xkb extension found ** Message: Querying XF86Misc extension ** Message: XF86Misc extension found ** Message: Querying Xkb extension ** Message: Xkb extension found Tracker version 0.6.6 Copyright (c) 2005-2007 by Jamie McCracken (firstname.lastname@example.org) This program is free software and comes without any warranty. any ideas for fixing this? much thanks in advance!
i was able to work around this segfault by renaming my config directory as was suggested in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-397346.html
