Re: squeeze or xarchiver

something to try for you... just quoting

11:55 |    +ofourdan | ElAngelo: could be that the rar command is openeing
stdin to read the password for the rar file but X was
started in runlevel 5 directly so there is no console
attached, which usually hangs the X server (at leat it's
been like that for the last 15 years)
11:56 |    +ofourdan | a simple test would be to start X from a console
(startx) and redo the same, then switch back to the
console and check if the command has propmted for a
                       password there

Re: squeeze or xarchiver

hi..

I know maybe it could be late.. but have you tried installing those packages? They are both from the slacky.eu packages repository (in my opinion, the best place where to find good packages). I had the same problems with xarchiver 0.5.2 (slackware-current) before installing them..
I hope they'll help you..

rarlinux - 3.8.0 http://www.slacky.eu/aadm/pkgs/index.php?ver=6&pkg=2209
p7zip - 4.65 http://www.slacky.eu/aadm/pkgs/index.php?ver=6&pkg=706

bye bye..
