Installing Xfce 4.6.1 from Lenny Backports... anyone actually done this?

So yeah... anyone actually done this? I'm having a hell of a time... see my post on Debian forums for the madness of it all: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php? … 06#p256406. The question I figured I'd ask here in Xfce Forum is this...well... has anyone actually install Xfce 4.6.1 from lenny-backports successfully?

According to all the documentation I have found, it should be as simple as adding backports to sources.list and running "apt-get -t lenny-backports install xfce4". Though, none of the people that claim it should work this way sound like they have actually done it themselves. Hence my question. So yeah... if you've actually done this, feel free to drop me a line and share any tips you might have.

Thanks!

Swill

Well, 6 weeks later, but nothing changed in lenny-backports concerning Xfce 4.6.1 on i386, means the missing packages are still not available, making it impossible to install Xfce 4.6.1 on Lenny i386. Is lenny-backports dead?

I guess it really is better to go for Squeeze nowadays, if in need for Xfce 4.6.1.

You set the target of the installation as being from the Lenny-backport repos, so I assume you've pinned it at a lower priority in your sources.list file.

I'd recommend deleting the priority of the lenny-backports, update + full-upgrade, then try installing xfce without the -target switch.

Last time I checked the backports for Xfce 4.6.1 was broken.
