re-map right_workspace_key from <control><alt>left to <super>h

Hello all.

I googled and searched for my problem some time with no result (which may
well be my fault).

Now, I'd like to switch workspaces with <Super>h|j|k|l instead of
<Control><Alt>[arrows] (vim shortcut habits).  I know the settings
manager and find the mapping there, and when I google my question,
I find hints like "go to the settings manager and change it there".
The setting manager accepts no changes.  When I go into the Application
Shortcuts menu, I can add keys for programs e.g. I start a terminal
with <Super>F1, this works.  But it seems that I can't add <Super>h
for left_workspace_key here.

Seems that I am missing something obvious.  What am I doing wrong?

TIA, Erch

Re: re-map right_workspace_key from <control><alt>left to <super>h

In the Application Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard dialogue, it should be as simple as double-clicking on the list item in the, "Command", column, to bring up a dialogue to change the command and double-clicking on the corresponding list item in the, "Shortcut", column, to bring up a dialogue, for altering the shortcut.

Once the shortcut dialogue is open, with it focussed, just hit your desired key combination, to set the shortcut. As you hold down the modifier key (in this case, the windows key), it should display the currently pressed modifier key. Once you hit a regular key, while holding down any modifiers you want to use, the shortcut is automatically set.

Edit: oh no wait, sorry. I got my setting mixed up. The process should be largely the same for the Window manager shortcuts, however.

Re: re-map right_workspace_key from <control><alt>left to <super>h

Thanks for your help.

I re-tried with your advice, but no menu accepts a change.  The window manager shortcuts don't react to a modification, and the application manager shortcuts can only start _applications_, not window manager commands.  I then tried to modify the xml-files in ~/.config, but then xfce4 did not start any more.   Reinstalled xfce, but now I habe do do the whole configuration over again (install a panel, configure keyboard layout...) - but even now I can not change the left|right|up|down_workspace_key.  I'm not complaining, it is just that this seems to be too difficult for me.  Thanks anyway. This is too ambiguous to be useful. Do you mean:
1 Double clicking on the list entries doesn't bring up a new dialogue window.
2 The dialogue appears but with it focussed, pressing Super+H doesn't show output in the window, nor cause it to close itself.
3 The above all works but changes do not persist.
4 Something else, I haven't considered?

Can you get this far?
