[Solved] Desktop missing/only shows loging screen Xfce 4.6.1

hello,

i had some HD problems and had to hard shutdown the computer. most of the time i do this, something in xfce becomes corrupted (good idea chosing XML as your config file format) and i have to repair something.

today however, my entire desktop disappeared and the only thing that's left is the task bar and the login background.

would anyone tell me how to fix this?

running xubuntu with Xfce 4.6.1

thanks a lot

Anybody?

I find it a bit odd that nobody here knows what the cause of this might be.

Thanks

What do you miss? Desktop icons (start xfdesktop)?

Thanks Nick, xfdesktop does work. But why doesn't it start now?

I have disabled xfce4-tips, xfce settings helper and xconf migration script in "application autostart" -- is that a problem?

Thanks

The default desktop should at least start xfwm4, xfce4-panel, xfdesktop, xfce4-settings-helper (keyboard shortcuts, display manager, mouse stuff, etc...), xfsettingsd (theming, icons, fonts).
