[Solved] xfce 4.6 + xscreensaver : does not lock screen after idle time

Hello there ,

I am running xfce 4.6 on Ubuntu 10.04 and Opensuse 11.3 (both 64 bits), in a corporate environment.

i have a problem with xscreensaver in booth distros, i need the screen to lock after x minutes o inactivity. but xscreensaver never kicks in .

xscreensaver in running normally  (user session start up : "xscreensaver -no-splash" )

xfce power manager works ok.

So i have been thinking, there is any way of making xfce power manager execute xflock4 after the idle time?

i don't care for screensavers i just want to lock the idle computer. (some of our apps use automatic authentication so this really worries me )

I have the same problem, at least after a few suspends of the machine.  I am running fluxbox with a couple of xfce apps.  What kernel are you running ?

Re: [Solved] xfce 4.6 + xscreensaver : does not lock screen after idle time

Hi,
had the same problem and I registered to ask for help, but looks like I found the solution (in my case, may not be your problem).

You have to enable the "lock screen after" option, and set it to "0". That value, according to my understanding, is the time after the screensaver starts.
So, if you set the screensaver to run after 3 minutes and the lock to occur after 3 minutes, the screen will be locked 3 minutes after the screensaver started (that is, 3+3=6 minutes).
Setting it to "0" makes the lock to occur as soon as the screensaver starts.
