Keyboard and Mouse Input Method Problem?

I am using Fedora 17 and the latest Xfce available in the repository.

I may have changed a setting in the Settings Manager for my mouse and keyboard, as they failed to come up again after reboot.  All I get is an active Ctrl-Alt-Del that causes a screen lock to go into effect.  No mouse and no way to unlock or reboot, except reset button.

I am  wondering if this has something to do with the I-Bus system or the input method configuration.  There were four choices in the manager and I may have chosen the wrong one.

However, there is no way to recover, but to go into another DE.

How can one recover from this problem, and why is there no warning given?

Re: Keyboard and Mouse Input Method Problem?

Good news.  I was able to recover.

I logged into Gnome and then KDE.  I used it for a couple days and all was fine.  So, just for fun, I decided to try to log into the Xfce desktop.  Surpise... it worked!  Everything was back to normal.  I checked the input method settings and it was set to none.  Go figure.

So, there is no explanation as to what happened, but it appeared that trying the other DE's sorted out the problem and got the keyboard and mouse working again as it should.

These will remain my recommendations to anyone with a similar problem.

Case closed.
