How to Stop Desktop/Screen Scrolling

hi,

I've got an issue that occurs when I connect an external monitor to my laptop; after connected the monitor my overall screen size is increased to 4560 x 1800, greater than the combined horizontal size of both monitors. When my mouse gets to the right of the screen the display scrolls, the two images here show what happens. When I try to resize the screen (via xrandr) I get an error about an illegal screen size. I've tried unsetting likely looking settings about wrapping workspaces in Window Manager and Window Manager Tweaks to no avail. Is there any way in XFCE to stop this behavior?
