I get the following error:
checking for X... no
configure: error: X Window system libraries and header files are required
!! Failed to configure libxfce4mcs, see the errors above
!! for details on the problem.
Yes I've installed the Xorg development packages.
I'm thinking maybe I need to create a symbolic link because of a "non-standard" file locations.
Thanks for any suggestions offered.
BTW: I'm not using apt-get because I want to try transparency.
I'm using dapper too and composite worked right out of the box.
Nevertheless, do apt-get build-dep libxfce4mcs and you should be set.
apt-get install xlibs-dev
...my xubuntu 6.06 xfce4 failed with systemsounds, using FFOX + TBird. is there a chance to include ? someone told me about including "gnome-settings-manager", but thats´s 80 % of GNOME.
...need a hint from profis (... this forum might be the wrong place for my question - sorry???)
I had problem after problem installing XFCE even after following the guide. After googling alsa I found a unrelated problem to what I was having & thought I would share this information; if you are failing during installation at the mixer portion of XFCE with an error saying alsa not found perhaps will fix any debian based system try
sudo apt-get install libasound2-dev
If I have helped 1 person I am happy
Happy running it now... good work ladies n gents. My first and prolly last post here Njoy
I lied not my last post:) I now know why I had probs that did not show up normally it was because I run InitNG
Because the path to modprobe and alsactl are different between debian and ubuntu, we need to create some link
sudo ln -s /sbin/alsactl /usr/sbin/alsactl
sudo ln -s /sbin/modprobe /usr/sbin/modprobe
So sorry 4 the post...
