[Solved] Disk space and mad Xfce

Hello,

I'm new to xfce, I've installed Xubuntu and after a few hours I was granted a nice "Not enough space on / to start your session" my / partition is 7go... so it suprised me.

After a complete format and reinstallation same thing: my disk space seems to be running out very very quickly. I finally point out the files that seem to be the source of my problem:

- /var/log/message
- /var/log/syslog
- /var/log/kern.log

Each file is 450 MB  and growing live in Thunar :? :? :?

Anyone had this problem before?

Re: [Solved] Disk space and mad Xfce

What has thunar to do with this? Are there xfce related warnings in the log?

Thunar: I mean when I look up the files size in thunar I can see them growing...\

For the error in the syslog it says:

Re: [Solved] Disk space and mad Xfce

Well this is not Xfce releated at all, it's a problem in the kernel. Try to update to the latest version or disable acpi in grub/lilo (acpi=off or noacpi). Make sure you hardware keeps working with acpi disabled, since some fans are software controlled.

Thank you for your answer, in fact my computer is a Dell Inspiron 2650. I found a solution by removing "xfce4-baterieplugin" which seemed to be the origin off the problem and replacing it by "gnome-power-manager". It seems to be working for now  ;D

Yeah that plugin sucks (it work for ages, but due to some kernel changes if starts to suck), I'm working on a replacement which uses hal and is capable to suspend your computer. I think it's finished in a couple of weeks.
