Order in which items are added to the taskbar

I'm a recent convert to xfce and I found a minor annoyance I was hoping someone could help me with.  When I log in, I normally go to my 2nd desktop and start up my browser.  Then I start up any number of other applications, I expect them to show up in the taskbar from left-to-right in the order I open them.  However, they seem to be added to the taskbar in an unpredictable (for the most part) order.  The 2nd application I open is always added to the left of the 1st.  Any application after that seems to be added randomly, but more often to the right than the left.  Is there any way I can force them to be added in the order I open them?

Thanks,
Brian

So is the random placement of running programs on the taskbar a feature that people like, or is it a bug?

Re: Order in which items are added to the taskbar

It's not randomly sorted, the windows are stored by their Xid. Athough this number is quite random, so the result it the same. In trunk (Xfce 4.6) we've already switch to libwnk (gnome taskbar backend), which does sorting a lot better.
