Making xfce replace xdm and kde

Hello all,

First i apologize if this post is in the wrong section of the board, i think my question is relative to support but cannot say it's Installation or desktop sub-topic revelant smile

I want to xfce to replace the xdm for login step and xfce become the default display manger/ window manager

Is that possible ? Anyone have any hints about this ?

Thanks in advance ^^

Re: Making xfce replace xdm and kde

Xfce does not provide a component like xdm. You might try "slim" though, it's like xdm and used by many xfce users.

Re: Making xfce replace xdm and kde

You could of course just side-step slim/gdm/kdm/xdm as you don't necessarily need a display manager at all, you could just have X start on boot, and have XFCE as your default manager.

Exactly how you do this is a bit dependent on which distro you use.
