Troubles with mouse pointer

Hey, im running xfce 4.4 on xorg, and i got some problems with my mouse pointer.

When i try to apply any cursortheme, i always end up with this particular problem
http://forum.xfce.org/index.php?topic=3100.0

Even though it says he solved the problem, it doenst work that well for me.

The problem seems to be that the cursor images doesnt update themselfs.
It works fine in applications like firefox and such. But when hovering the xfce panel for example, the black default cursor shows instead.

Is there any solutions for this ?, any answers are welcome.
Thanks.

Re: Troubles with mouse pointer

Make sure you install the cursors theme on the right location.

For Xubuntu (in my case).

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/[Name of the Theme] also make sure there is an index file.

To use the theme in X-server, GDM and XFCE4 use the following command in the terminal (Ubuntu) other's may need to login using root.

"sudo update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme"

And select the theme you want.

No log out and log back in.

Somehow running XFCE4 does not have the right access to change the X-server mouse theme, when changing the theme as a user under the desktop with the menu panel... (Xubuntu 7.10 bug, but appears to be more common)
