Disappearing Menu and settings

I was taking a look at the various themes available in the Settings/User Interface when I clicked on the Industrial theme and the settings window closed instantaneously. I now cannot open the User Interface window (it starts momentarily and then crashes) nor some of the other Settings windows nor can I get the right click menu on the desktop.

So I caught in a loop where I cannot change the broken theme in order to change to a working theme.   Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Re: Disappearing Menu and settings

mmm, strange.

try to log as root. if everything is ok, try to backup your home directory, erase it completely and try it under normal account (no root) if it is ok, you know that there was an error (fault) on your side.

Re: Disappearing Menu and settings

Actually, I found the cure while browsing the Gentoo forum
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-46 … gshow.html
by emerge gtk-theme-switch and then running switch2
