What is XFCE running after clicking on Suspend in xfce4-session-logout?

I have a few questions on how to suspend my laptop running XFCE4.4.1

a) Is there a command line equivalent to clicking on 'Suspend' in the XFCE logout dialog box?
It doesn't seem to run 'pmi action suspend' or 'sleep.sh'
I could run those commands but I wanted to get the exact same behavior as the Suspend button.

b) when I then Resume from that Suspend, what scripts does XFCE run?
I didn't see any evidence that any of the scripts in /etc/acpi/resume.d/* are run.

c) also, when I Resume after an XFCE Suspend, my laptop comes up with an unlocked screen which I see as a major security risk.
How can I make sure xflock4 or xlock is run when my laptop resumes from the XFCE Suspend?
I added a custom xlock script into /etc/acpi/resume.d/  but XFCE is not running any of those scripts when resuming.

My goals are to customize the suspend&resume behavior, and to make sure my screen is locked when my laptop resumes. I would like to avoid having to use xscreensaver because it consumes too many cycles, heats my laptop, wastes energy, causes the fan to kick in and actually doesn't save my screen.

Any ideas?

Ask your distro, since it patched xfce to enable this behavior.

ok I can check with some Xubuntu folks.
But assume they hadn't modified XFCE's original and intended suspend&resume behavior,
which scripts would normally kick in for those two actions?
That information should be available from XFCE regardless of what distro I use.

IT'S an Xubuntu modification! So ask your question on the Xubuntu mailing list or look yourself in the source code (in xfce4-session_4.4.1-1ubuntu4.diff.gz).
