Xfce on low resolution displays

Hi,

I'm trying to run Xfce on an embedded device with a screen resolution of 640x480 pixels (but that question also fits to the new low-cost-notebooks like OLPC, EEE and others that come with a resolution of 800x480).

With such a small vertical resolution most of the settings windows are too high, the buttons on the lower end of these windows can't be accessed any more. I already adjusted the font size for the windows but that did not help completely.

So my question is: what else can be done in Xfce to let it work properly with such small screen resolutions?

Due to its small size Xfce would be a perfect solution for devices that still have such displays...

Re: Xfce on low resolution displays

Wherever glade is involved, you could try to reposition the dialogs yourself, but glade usage is rather rare in Xfce.
Apart from submitting patches to the devs, you can try your luck with the:

Re: Xfce on low resolution displays

i run xfce on my EEE and it is great. i use the prelude-4 theme which is almost chromeless:

and i have hotkeys set up (super+directional arrows) for moving my windows around. the prelude-4 theme allows you to move the top of the window past the top of your desktop, so it's perfect for getting at those hard to reach buttons  ;D

Re: Xfce on low resolution displays

Thanks for the replies. I meanwhile think about using XFast instead of Xfce - that's a really small and fast desktop environment that also contains the X-server. I recently found it at http://xfast.wiki.sourceforge.net/ and will do some tests with it the next days.
