xfce mixer

Hello all,

I am having some trouble with the xfce mixer. I am running gentoo, with a 2.6.24-r8 kernel on a Dell Optiplex GX280. I have an integrated AC97 sound card, and I am using snd_intel8x0 with the snd_ac97_codec.

I am using xfce 4.4.2 (mixer is v. 4.4.2), with ALSA. I have alsa-utils v. 1.0.16.

Everything seems to be working fine with the alsa mixer and utilities, but there seems to be a slight bug in the xfce-mixer plugin.

When use the green volume bar on the desktop, it changes Master Mono, not master--thus having no effect on the sound. When I open up the mixer and change the master slider, it works as expected. Is there any way to get the green slider to correlate to the master volume, NOT the master mono?

If you need any more information, please let me know.

Re: xfce mixer

OK, I've found a solution.

I simply had to change the Master variable in the xfce-mixer config file, located in each user's .config/xfce4/panel/ directory.

Is there any way to change the xfce-mixer config options universally? There wasn't anything promising in the etc directory.
