Two questions concerning the desktop

Hello folks!
I'm new to the Xfce-Sesktop and I love it. But I got to problems I can't solve myself. Either I'm blind or there is no options for that...

1.) Contextmenu
I'd like to have the contextmenu instead of the Xfce-Menu with all the programs when I rightclick on the desktop.
xfce_desktopmenu.png
Is there a setting to achieve that?

2.) Refreshing
When I save a file from a program to the desktop-folder (or any other folder in Thunar by the way) I've to press F5 for refreshing the view so see that file. That's a little annoying. How can I cahnge that?

Kind regards,
salnet

Re: Two questions concerning the desktop

I solved the second problem for myself.
apt-get autoremove has removed fam for any reason. An install of fam made my day.

But the first problem is still unsolved, so don't stop replying.

Re: Two questions concerning the desktop

Look at the "Desktop Settings" on the "Behavior" tab. Mine shows middle-click will get you an application list. You might try changing the "Show desktop menu on right click" checkbox and restarting X.

There won't show up a menu when I do so.

Re: Two questions concerning the desktop

Hmm, did you remember to check "Allow Xfce to manage the desktop", and then save your session before you logged out and restarted X?

Also, if possible, you should try to use gamin rather than fam to monitor file changes. Gamin is much easier on your system resources; it's a good fam replacement.

Re: Two questions concerning the desktop

Yes, I did so. But there does no menu show off then.
btw. I'm using Xfce 4.4.2

Some of my programs depend on libfam0 and fam, so I can't use gamin.
