What icons are desktop links trying to call?

I am running xubuntu and have just installed an alternative icon set. However, the links to Trash and Home on the desktop are displaying the default icons. There new icons for these in the set I installed that show up elsewhere but not on the desktop. I assume that the desktop links are calling for an icon with a name that isn't covered by an icon or symlink in the icon set.

If I knew what the name of the icon the links are calling for I could just create symlinks in the new icon set to cover them. Does anyone know where the details of these desktop links are stored or what icons they want? They are links that were put on the desktop automatically by xubuntu.

thanks

Re: What icons are desktop links trying to call?

Seems like you renamed "Home" to "Me" and "Trash" to "Wastebasket".
Do icon theme changes apply if you rename them back?

Re: What icons are desktop links trying to call?

'me' is my user home directory and 'wastebasket' is the uk locale 'translation' of trash.

It seems that the desktop icons were calling a fixed size 32x32 icon and the theme I was using only had scalable icons. When I increased the size of the desktop icons they changed to the new theme.
