major problem

Hi,

I am having a major problem with XFCE : yesterday, everything was working fine, and this morning, when I logged in, my 6 workspaces have disappeared (although in my desktop paramaters it still says "6 worksapces") and the border of every windows/terminals have disappeared and they won't move around in the creen : they just sit where they appear.... if anyone had a suggestion, thaaat would be great... I am completely lost, there...

Thanks a lot !

Marc

PS : BTW, I am under fedora 10

Re: major problem

First off: what version of Xfce are you using?

Next: what did you install, update or change?

Barring that: have you tried restarting X, or barring that, your computer? (I hate suggesting that, but sometimes there's a hiccup after resuming from suspend/hibernation.)

Re: major problem

It seems to be the window manager (xfwm4) who don't starts anymore.
You can try to restart it using: ALT+F2  -->  xfwm4 --daemon or xfwm4 --replace
Then close all running apps and restart Xfce activating "Save session for future logins".

Re: major problem

First off : thanks a lot to you two for your answers smile:):):):)
My xfce is 4.4.3. I did try to restart x and reboot : none worked, alas (but it was a good suggestion anyway wink ).
I am going to try Wwwapush suggestion now.
Once again, thanks a lot for your help !

Re: major problem

Wapush's solution works !! smile:):):)
Thank you soooo much.
And I am having the same problem with gnome, now... would you happen to know what daemon  should invoke ? Anyway, it's not a big deal : I spent 99 % of my time under xfce smile

Thank you again !
