Problem on my Arch

I installed Xfce on my arch but i cant login as a normal user

xfce crash and give this error "Unable to determine failsafe session. Possible causes : xfconfd isn't running
(D-Bus setup problem), environment variable $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS is set incorrectly
(must include "/etc"), or xfce4-sessions is installed incorrectly."

as root i can login. How can i solve? (im a linux newbie maybe this is a stupid question)

Re: Problem on my Arch

No, this is not a stupid question.  I had the same problem.  In Debian, there is a package named dbus-x11 which contains the dbus-launch utillity.  Neither the dependency list at www.xfce.org/documentation/requirements nor the Xfce-4.6 graphical installer flags this package as a necessary dependency.  After I installed this package, Xfce-4.6 launched immediately.  Hopefully, Arch has an identically- or similarly-named package.

Re: Problem on my Arch

I'm having the same exact problem on a new arch install. I can log into xfce as root, but not as a regular user. I get the same error message as dav, "Unable to determine failsafe session". I don't see a package in arch called dbus-x11. Any ideas?

Re: Problem on my Arch

if you used the Arch packages to install Xfce on your machine you really should be asking this in the Arch fora... They are way more active than the xfce forum

Re: Problem on my Arch

I've seen this mentioned on other forums, the reported solution was to recreate the users and it magically worked.  Not sure of the distro, but worth trying to create a new user and see if it logins in successfully or not.
