XFCE back to login

Xfce Version: 4.4
Your Distribution and Version: Ubuntu 10.04 (Alpha3)

After an update to Ubuntu 10.04, I _WAS_ able to start xfce, however, after a bit I was unable to.  Everytime I start either XFCE Session or Xubuntu, the screen goes black for about 3-4 seconds, and goes straight back to GDM.

Whilst in Ubuntu, the command "startxfce" runs XFCE along with GNOME (It's rather interesting I'll admit).
Whilst in Xterm, the same occurs.

I deleted the xfce folder in .config in hopes to reset the lot, however nothing has come of it.  I also tried to remove, and re-install the xubuntu-desktop package, but only about 4 packages totaling 40KB were removed.
Thanks.

Re: XFCE back to login

You can rename/remove your Sessions files in ~/.cache/sessions/ and see if that helps, or just try startxfce4 as a fresh user.

Re: XFCE back to login

I 'rm -r sessions/' and that did not work.

How do I start as a fresh user?

With adduser, or useradd, or whatever it's called in your system.

Re: XFCE back to login

I made a new user, and it worked just fine.

How can I "start anew" with my current user? (My main profile)

Re: XFCE back to login

Thats good, so its just a config issue.  There are Xfce related files in ~/.config/ and ~/.cache/.  There might be other application configs stored in those directories, so look inside each one before blasting them.
