[Solved] How to Remove Gnome
I was having problems in Xfce so did sudo apt-get install gnome. I found the error in Xfce and have returned to my beautiful Xfce desktop. I would like to remove the HDD hungry gnome from my HDD but do not want to remove gnome packages common to Xfce if there are any. There are so many packages starting with "gnome", what is the best way to remove gnome?

Learn by doing, So far I know that I should not have removed: network-manager-gnome, gdm, I'm beggining to think I should re-install keyring because nm-applet will now only load when root logs in, or possibly buggered up something around xfsessions

Oh man, I have really messed things up! My main issue now is that many things only work when I log in as root, e.g. sound driver, nm-applet (wireless network), gnome-keyring. I hope there is a simple permissions fix. If anybody knows please share. I should also mention that instead of reinstalling gdm I installed slim.

Okay people. Do not remove gdm3 or your'e gonna have a bad time. I removed slim, re-install gdm3 and network, sound, bluetooth are all back a beautiful. Case closed, thanks for all the help fella's. It's been a pleasure.
