[Solved] Bottom Panel Question

Hi, on xubuntu 11.10 I'm wondering if there is a way to lock the panel so it shows all the time instead of autohide, and so it will stay behind open windows, like when using a browser.
Thanks!

Re: [Solved] Bottom Panel Question

Normally, with Xfce 4.8.x, in the panel properties, you can un-check "Automatically show and hide the panel" to stop autohide. But, the panel will be always on top of windows ...

Re: [Solved] Bottom Panel Question

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping it was like Enlightenment where it could be set behind open windows. Is there a way to seriously reduce the size of the bottom panel? I'm using this on a netbook and don't want to lose much desktop real estate.

Re: [Solved] Bottom Panel Question

The other thing I wonder is how hard is it to move the top panel to the bottom and just remove the bottom bar? Maybe just put everything on one panel at the bottom?

Re: [Solved] Bottom Panel Question

The both panel are equivalent so you can move everything to one panel and remove the another. This is the default configuration for Xfce on Arch and Opensuse 11.4

What the problem with autohide ? I also have a netbook and I use autohide. I even use a vertical panel, as the vertical size is precious on netbook's screen :-p

Re: [Solved] Bottom Panel Question

I just moved everything to the top panel and deleted the bottom one. I don't like the autohide because every time I go to the scroll bar at the bottom right it triggers the panel and it gets in my way, Unity did the same thing but at the top left corner on 11.04 but Unity is better designed on 11.10
Thanks!
