Open web link from terminal.

Hi, IIRC it used to be possible to open a web link from terminal with ctrl+click.
Now it's not working here:

$ xfce4-terminal -V
xfce4-terminal 0.4.8 (Xfce 4.8)

$ apt-cache policy xfce4-terminal
xfce4-terminal:
  Installed: 0.4.8-1+b1
  Candidate: 0.4.8-1+b1
  Version table:
 *** 0.4.8-1+b1 0
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ sid/main i386 Packages
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ testing/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Was it possible before? Maybe it stopped working because of that name change from 'Control' to 'Primary'?

Re: Open web link from terminal.

Does the link get underlined when you hover the mouse pointer over it?
CTRL-click does nothing here, but right-click -> Open Link does.

Yes.

Same here.
But I've used other terminal emulators before and maybe the ctrl+click option was never available in (xfce)terminal.
That's why I also asked.

Re: Open web link from terminal.

I see, well, I know that I've always used the right click menu, but that doesn't mean CTRL-click has never worked smile. I don't know.

Re: Open web link from terminal.

Middle mouse button should do the job.

Re: Open web link from terminal.

Sorry for necro-ing.

Is there any way to change this mapping to, say, ctrl+left click?

Re: Open web link from terminal.

Not sure if this helps, but if I left or middle click PLUS ctrl it works.

This is using gnome-terminal. Using xfce4-terminal middle click works, with or without ctrl.

BTW, this is a cool feature. Never knew it was there.

Re: Open web link from terminal.

I knew about the behavior you just described. It's very annoying, however, when I mean to middle-click a link and end up pasting a bunch of junk instead.
