Compositing Keeps Resetting on Reboot

That's the issue, I'm not sure why, but the compositing which is set under window manager tweaks does not work after a reboot. If you uncheck the compositing option and then recheck it, it works again, but it will not work after another reboot.

Re: Compositing Keeps Resetting on Reboot

Are you sure that's why?

Try being more specific.

A few extra lines of information on your problem might help.

& if you have solved your problem, please mark it as solved and explain the problem and the resolution.

Re: Compositing Keeps Resetting on Reboot

No, I'm not quite sure if that's why its happening, I do know however, if after I've reset compositing and log out (without rebooting) and then log back in, my compositing changes remain in place, however if I reboot the compositing will no longer be active on log in. It's actually really trivial, and it seems silly posting, but I suppose I was wondering if there was an easy fix for this.

Re: Compositing Keeps Resetting on Reboot

Strange that. I don't enable compositing so I can't say much but in KDE with pulseaudio, kmix has a similar problem and people that understand about programming say it's a 'race' thing (like kmix should start after pulseaudio but does it before or the other way around). So maybe it's related with the login manager too?

It might be a good idea to try ALSA drivers if your pulseaudio is using more CPU's than is necessary.

Re: Compositing Keeps Resetting on Reboot

Sorry, I can see how this would be relevant. I'm running Arch, and I'm not using a login manager. I actually don't even have sound configured as of now, because I can't seem to find any speakers at the moment. It's actually not that big of a deal, and I hope no one is beating themselves up over this, I was just hoping there was an easy fix, or some option I just wasn't noticing. I have Arch with Xfce on my virtual machine on my laptop too, and compositing works there, so not sure what the problem is.
