Mousepad, squeeze and xfce4-power-manager should be improved.

The three are important to desktop, but they are inactive now.

Re: Mousepad, squeeze and xfce4-power-manager should be improved.

I think that the power manager has received some improvement for Xfce 4.10.
I think that mousepad is supposed to be a very light text editor, like leafpad. There's a light one that has many resources, geany. If you think there's something that needs improving in mousepad you can open a bug report with an enhancement request.
I have never tried squeeze, and in fact I think it isn't even available in Fedora.
We have Xarchiver here but I don't know how the two are related.

They are all archiver manager, and xarchiver is older than old squeeze.

I mean they are all out somewhat, should be improved for 4.10.

Any news about squeeze or xarchiver development?
Actual versions are old, slow and don't work good with a lot of archives (for example large archives).
I don't want to install file-roller and gnome dependencies.

As far as I know, Mousepad got rewritten and now has more features. I'm not sure when the new version is getting released.

Re: Mousepad, squeeze and xfce4-power-manager should be improved.

The lack of a suitable gtk2 archive manager almost single-handedly forced me to upgrade to gtk3 so that I could use file-roller.  It doesn't bring very many gnome dependencies with it if you compile from source.  xarchiver is way out of date and maintained through a series of patches; squeeze doesn't have support for newer filetypes and the latest version in git hangs when you try to use it through thunar-archive-plugin.  It is surprising how limited the selection is for gtk2 archive managers, you would think someone would have picked one up and started actively maintaining one, but that does not seem to be the case.

Note that if you install file-roller, one of the commands in the thunar-archive-plugin .tap file for it is out of date, so you'll need to fix that for 'extract here'.
