[Solved] xfce hangs before performing autostart

Edit (2012-12-17) : I will try to reformulate my question:

When I start xfce, the system hangs for ca. 15 secondes during the "Starting nautilus" phase, just before "Performing Autostart". Yet I deleted nautilus a few weeks ago. Any idea of what I could do so xfce doesn't try to start nautilus at every start? Thanks in advance!

Original post:

Hi

I am a newbie running xfce 4.6.2 on Debian Squeeze 6.0.6, and I wonder what happens when you start xfce and the components are loaded, while the splash screen is shown. (During what I improperly call the 'splash screen phase'...)

In my case, I had the bad idea of installing nautilus (via apt-get). Then I removed it, but since, every time I start xfce, the xfce splash screens holds during the step "Starting nautilus". Nothing happens during ca. 15 seconds and then the splash screens disappears and xfce works correctly.

I imagine that there should be a config file somewhere, where the different components to load with xfce are enumerated, and where I could remove the "nautilus" entry. Could you help me?

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Solved] xfce hangs before performing autostart

On the Preference Menu, go to Sessions and Startup and select the Application Autostart tab.  Uncheck Nautilus and close the control panel.

Re: [Solved] xfce hangs before performing autostart

Edit (2012-12-17):

In fact xfce tries to start nautilus before performing the autostart.

Original answer:

Unfortunately, nautilus doesn't appear in the list. Isn't there another "autostart" config file ? I mean, something that xfce runs before this list?

Also, in the Application Autostart tab, it is written that "Below is the [autostart list], in addition to the applications that were saved when you logged out last time". So I looked for nautilus in htop, but I didn't find it. It seems that nautilus has really been deleted, but somehow it still remains somewhere in some xfce config file...

Try to see if there is something about nautilus in ~/.cache/sessions/.

Re: [Solved] xfce hangs before performing autostart

Edit (2012-12-27):

Well, it is very strange, but I kept deleting ~/.cache/sessions/xfce4-session-hostname* again and again, and eventually, it worked...

Original post:

Indeed, I found several occurrences of nautilus in ~/.cache/sessions.

~/.cache/sessions/xfce4-session-hostname:0 (7 first lines):

[Session: Default]
Client0_ClientId=25146784c-26ca-4a2b-88d4-1c5af7e4302c
Client0_Hostname=local/hostname
Client0_CloneCommand=nautilus
Client0_DiscardCommand=/bin/rm,-rf,/home/user/.config/session-state/nautilus-1353581915.state
Client0_Program=nautilus
Client0_RestartCommand=nautilus,--sm-client-id,25146784c-26ca-4a2b-88d4-1c5af7e4302c,--sm-client-state-file,/home/user/.config/session-state/nautilus-1353581915.state

In the meantime, I found a post with a similar problem: http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=5641

But in my case, even though I have already deleted xfce4-session-hostname several times, it keeps coming back with nautilus in. As you can see, four different variables do mention nautilus: Client0_CloneCommand, Client0_DiscardCommand, Client0_Program and Client0_RestartCommand.
