XFCE panel row limit

I have a panel in deskbar mode. I want to increase the width of the deskbar in order to display text. This can be achieved by increasing the "row size", but has the side effect of making huge any icons placed on the panel. I attempted to work around this problem by increasing the number of "rows" on the panel. However, this value is capped at 6 (the slider not going any higher on the gui). Changing this value through the settings editor to a value greater than 6  appears to have no effect on the panel. Is there a way I can solve this problem, whether it be by somehow exceeding the row limit of 6, or by changing the width of the panel by other means?

Re: XFCE panel row limit

Yes, the number of rows in the panel is limited to six. It is an arbitrary limit so you can edit the source, recompile the panel and have any number of panel rows you like.

How many rows do you want, and can you produce a screenshot/mockup of what you want to achieve?

Re: XFCE panel row limit

This is a picture. The panel is on the left. As is apparent, the width is too low, and text is cut off.

Re: XFCE panel row limit

What is your use case for requiring that many rows?

As @andrzejr mentions above, it is hard coded and you'll need to edit the source if you want that changed. Or create a bug report requesting the change and presenting a use case for requiring a higher row limit.
