Lock the panel: A suggestion

There is already an option to lock the panel in place.
Unfortunately, this does not provide protection from accidentally moving, removing or reconfiguring panel items.
I often run into this problem with my customers who unintentionally tend to modify their once properly set-up panels.

So IMHO, the option found under PANEL > PANEL PREFERENCES > DISPLAY (tab) named as LOCK PANEL should also lock (i.e. disable/prohibit) moving or removing the panel items.

I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

Anything that can be extensively customised should have such an option and this needs to be implemented.

By the way, KDE already has this and probably has had for some time.

Have a look at the Xfce Panel entry at this kiosk wiki document: http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/kiosk_mode. It may be what you're looking for.
